Straddling the border between Pastaza and Tungurahua provinces, this viewpoint derives its name from the welcoming Mera Canton, marking your entrance into the Amazon region.

Easily identifiable by a prominent sign reading "PASTAZA" and smaller displays showcasing images of the renowned nest, the viewpoint charges a modest admission fee of $3 per person. WHAT TO BRING?

Light wool is ideal and a warm jacket is usually necessary in the highlands after the sunset. Shoes for walking, or good hiking boots, a thick sweater and a jacket. Remember that the higher you are, the colder the weather will be.

Temperature Range: 5º-25ºC (41º-77ºF). For the Jungle: Lightweight & clothing with long sleeves/pants, swimwear, shorts, comfortable & supportive walking shoes, sandals, flashlight, rain gear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellant, camera and extra batteries and not forget your passport. Temperature Range: 23º to 26º C (72º to 80º F)

EL diseño de la ruta está muy completo. Pero el acompañamiento no ha estado a la altura. Ha de haber más conocimiento por parte del guía acerca de qué lugares visitar. Viajaba una persona de 74 años que pasó problemas de cansancio fuerte por no ser bien asesorada. Yo soy vegetariano y, aún habiendo avisado con antelación, era una odisea de recorrer restaurantes a la hora de comer para encontrar un lugar que tuviera algún producto que pudiera comer. En el Amazonas hubo un trato distinto que mejoró la experiencia. No había mala actitud. Es un tema de atención y experiencia que se notó demasiado. Y si viajas una vez en la vida a un sitio, deseas poder sentirte más sostenido por la agencia que contratas
