Pass By: Golden Circle Route, Iceland

Get into the history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park, witness the powerful beauty of a multi-tiered waterfall at Gullfoss and walk among bubbling geothermal pools at Geysir Geothermal Area.

Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland

Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Geysir, Haukadalur Iceland

The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Strokkur, Selfoss 806 Iceland

While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Gullfoss Waterfall, Blaskogabyggd Iceland

The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

Darren & Hermann were amazing tour guides on our trip to the Golden Circle! We got some extra time at each stop to explore, eat, & shop around for about an hour and a half at each place!

In March 2023, our girls trip found us searching for the Aurora in Iceland. Reykjaviks’ excursions were impressively efficient with minimal challenges. Certainly Icelanders know hospitality and adventure. Sadly we didn’t see the auroras, but the waterfalls, spas, and amazing restaurants satisfied our curiosity of this Northern Island in the Artic Circle.

Great and relevant information from Darren throughout the entire day, which were given with profound professionalism and enthusiasm. Gray Line seems to care about their clients - at no point in time we felt like just another group of tourists. Felt totally safe in the hands of the driver Gregor.

Nice trip BUT ... no water and no food given on the tour we were looooooong time in the countryside they could have at least offered a energy bar and water... For the price it is a little for the value like everything we did up there. Get a doggy bag from the hotel!! including water

Astonishing landscapes from Thingvellir and the encounter of tectonic plates, the Gulfoss waterfalls and geysir park. We also stopped to see some Icelandic horses (cute and docile).

This was an excellent tour, led expertly by Beggi and driver Piotr, who both made it seemless and a very relaxed day. All of the stops were well worth seeing, the volcano crater, waterfall, and national park especially. I've visited before and this time found the geyser area now way too commercial, the facilities and cafe at the waterfall stop far are better. Beggi's hot chocolate recommendation there was spot on, superb.

Michael our guide and Gunnar our driver were excellent guides. They got us to the three spots on time, and we were even early to some spots due to less traffic. The waterfalls and the geyser were lovely, and you get to spend about 1.5 hour at the 2nd stop to get lunch, at the Geysir food court (get the lamb soup!) All the stops had stores and restrooms as well. Do show up at your pickup on time. The mini bus to take us to the BSI bus terminal was super punctual (you have to show up 30 min before your tour time, so for 10am, our pickup was 9:30am) Bundle bundle bundle up! The waterfall especially is very windy. The first and third stops had inclines and stairs to walk up and down so this is a heads up on that.
