Starting and ending in Nagano City, this tour takes you to the “Roof of Japan” and the fabled Snow Walls of the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route. Situated in the dramatic alpine landscape of the Chubu Sangaku National Park, this is one of Japan’s most iconic and unique sights, accessible only in spring and early summer and via a series of different mountain transports. Led by an English-speaking guide, you will be accompanied on every leg of your journey to the Roof of Japan and back down again - the perfect way to experience one of Japan`s more remote and stunning landscapes.

Please wear suitable shoes for walking through snow and cold conditions (with the possibility of temperatures below 0°C).
Please bring sunglasses as the snow in combination with sunlight can produce intense glare. We also recommend wearing snowboots or good quality walking boots, if you wish to walk on the snowfields.
This tour is not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for mobility-impaired travellers. Should you have any concerns about your ability to join the tour, please contact us to discuss prior to booking.
This tour does not include lunch. Food can be purchased at different mountain stations with different restaurants to choose from at the summit.

In case of extreme weather conditions, routes to the snow corridor might close. In such a case, the tour will be cancelled with full refund.
Most travelers can participate
The itinerary is based on the traffic conditions being optimal. We will adjust the schedule according to traffic conditions and pace of the group on the day of the tour.
Infants (aged 0-5) are free of charge. As a result, we cannot guarantee that a seat on the tour transport will be available for infants and they may be required to sit in the lap of an adult.
Given the popularity of the Alpine Route and the need to wait for transports on busy days, we cannot guarantee the end time of the tour however it should be no later than 19:00. We ask that all guests cooperate with the instructions of the guide, including meetup times for transports, to avoid any chance of delay.

A lot of travel to see a little bit of snow. It was a horrible day weather wise but even so. None of the transportation was overly comfortable and there was a lot of sitting around waiting. A lot of money to pay to see a bit of ice

Highly recommendable, I had a fantastic day. The Tour Guide was awesome and gave a lot of interesting insights. Even though it was pretty crowded Tateyama Snow Walls are absolutely worth a visit. The panoramic view from up there was just breathtaking. Thank you so much for making this day unforgettable!

The views were amazing. The tour was well managed by Kevin and Sian. Specifically had some great interactions with Kevin.
Things went like clockwork! Feedback wise - can include some group activity that can happen at places where we have time (fun stuff where participation an be optional).

Fantastic tour. Kevin and sijung collaborated seamlessly to guide our big group. Instructions were given clearly and everything worked like clock work yet we didn't feel rushed. The two hours given at the snow corridor was just sufficient. We were blessed to see the snow walls clearly before the cloud descended. Would definitely recommend this tour to friends and family. Thanks for the good job by Kevin and sijung.

Have had an amazing journey from Nagano to the infamous snow wall at Murado, led by an experienced guide Kevin and assisted by Sion. The snow wall was very crowded with tourist but there was enough time and space to take photos with the high snow wall.
Kevin was meticulous in his work, gave clear instruction on meeting time and place at each stop, ensuring all members were present before each departure and still full of energy at end of tour, some 11 hours later. Well done to Kevin and Snow Monkey Resort.

Wonderful trip. Big group of 40. Well managed by our guides Kevin and Sion. The guides were informative as well as were fun to be around with. They ensured the group reached each station before time to avoid glitches. A lot of clarity in communication from the start till the end of the tour
