Learning about the history of the cemetery and upkeep of the graves and monuments was really interesting. We enjoyed learning how the grave sites were/ are passed down throughout generations of families. Jonathan, our guide, was very knowledgeable and told us some funny stories: learned some fun facts about a movie filmed there and the reaction of the Catholic Church.

We took this same tour five years ago and it was five star. We decided to take our granddaughters this time. It was a huge disappointment. The tour guide did not do a lot of explaining about burial habits in New Orleans or other interesting facts about the cemetery that we learned about on our previous tour. What was most disappointing was the way the tour guide rushed us everywhere. He kept looking at his watch and our our hour tour was really only fifty minutes. The reason became clear at the end when he told us he had to immediately go to his part time barkeepers job and proceeded to give a plug for the bar. A commercial we did not need. Perhaps with a different guide we would have rated this higher. We actually recommend this tour but only if you get good tour guide. I

We did the St. Louis Cemetery 1 walking tour with Zelda. She is a great tour guide. It was interesting to learn the history behind the cemetery. Now you have to be on an official tour to get into the cemetery. You buy your tickets at trail station at 501 Basin St.
