Our tour was an amazing experience. To see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island isn’t enough. To hear of how they were built and how they came to be isn’t enough. In order to truly be immersed in the history and to learn of the importance of these sites to - not just America - but to the world, one needs a passionate and knowledgeable tour guide. We were lucky to have just that! Jeff, a native New Yorker of 7 decades, gave us a wonderful experience. I would recommend this tour company and if you could, would request Jeff!
Logistically, everything went very smoothly. This is another reason to use ExperienceFirst if you’re visiting NYC for the first time. They will take you step-by-step through everything from finding the meeting place, what to bring, and what to expect. The price is very well worth it.
Thank you ExperienceFirst!

Our guide, Marla was great , very knowledgeable and entertaining. She led the 9:00am tour. As an added bonus she provided some fantastic recommendations for area restaurants and bars we could hit after the tour.

We really enjoyed the experience, it was very easy traveling from start to finish between islands, our guide was Jett who was really interesting and knew a lot of information on the islands, he made it more enjoyable by being funny in the way he told stories rather than just lecturing us like a teacher

Despite the weather being a little cold and damp, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We arrived at the ferry terminal earlier than anticipated having walked from our Mid-Town hotel. Fortunately as the earlier ferry was not full we we welcomed on board and thereby avoided an hour's wait. The Statue of Liberty was very impressive and one can only wonder at it's impact on all those people whose first sight of the USA included the statue. The views back to the New York skyline are quite impressive too. From the Statue it's a short crossing to Ellis Island where the story of the early immigrants to the USA is brilliantly told and depicted. The artefacts such as luggage bags which were sometimes nothing more than a bundle of belongings tied up in a blanket are a timely reminder that mass migration is not a 21st Century phenomenon. At the same time the migrants became the pioneers of a new nation where hard work and initiative is rewarded, and the skyscraper-dominated Manhattan skyline visible from Ellis Island bear testimony to this. If you're interested in how people build nations this trip is well worth doing.
