Once in a lifetime experience! Not only was this activity phenomenal so was the staff. We originally planned on going on a Tuesday but noticed on Sunday the weather wouldn’t be ideal and called to see if we could switch to Monday instead. The staff were accommodating and understanding to switch our days. The gear provided was great quality and very helpful! Dogs were fantastic and the staff were super knowledgeable! I am clumsy and not very athletic, but the activities were much more doable than anticipated!

Amazing view on the helicopter ride and then super fun to meet the dogs and the summer training crew once we were in the snow! The actual dog sledding track is a 1.7 mile loop around the camp with ~2 stops for photos and a chance to switch positions on the sled if you like.
Heli seats five so if you have a larger group you'll make multiple trips.
Pilot was great (friendly, experienced) and so were the mushers!
Waterproof clothes are provided (snow pants, windbreaker, boot covers) but you'll also want to wear some warm layers.

Being with all the excited dogs and dogsledding on the Punchbowl Glacier. We had a beautiful day to take an exciting short helicopter ride with views of the Camp. The staff was very good lettings us meet the dogs and informing us about the Iditarod Trail Sled Race and everything about it. Taking us on an exciting ride around the Punchbowl Glacier for a very unique experience!

A very well organized, well, equipped, and friendly staff. The helicopter ride was like floating on a cloud. The dogs were, of course, cute, friendly, and very sociable, and the handlers were knowledgeable and informative. Make sure you visit the Anh glacier office and have one of the handler’s. Explain how the Iditarod is run. The dog sledding was a hoot.

What a fantastic experience!! We were originally booked to do this in Seward but because of the weather it was cancelled! We were driving to Denali the following day so we called Alpine Air last minute to see if they had room for our family of four and after a few calls back and forth they were able to open up a new fight time that fit into our plans perfectly! They were so sweet in making sure we were able to have enough time to enjoy this experience before we were on to our next activity! Even though we had our own warm and waterproof gear they gave us their own supply of pants and coats so we wouldn’t get our clothes dirty (we had a 5 hour drive to do right after) and we could relax and have fun. The helicopter ride was amazing and the dogsledding was a once in a lifetime experience. Our twins loved it and the staff on top of the glacier took the time to explain their care of the dogs and made sure to take plenty of pictures of our family. Out of everything we did on our trip this was the coolest activity by far!

This was our second time dog sledding, the first time with Alpine Air! We will defiantly use them again and book some of their different tours too. The experience from start to finish for our group of 20 people including a toddler was beyond AMAZING! The ground staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and helped us get geared up. They supply EVERYTHING, hats, gloves, pants, coats, shoe covers, sunglasses and even had gear for my toddler. Our pilot was funny, and informed us on what we were flying past and what to look for. The glacier based team were welcoming, excited to talk to you about the dogs, new puppies and all their backstories. We were able to play with the pups and meet as many dogs as we wanted. The sled held 2 people plus the musher and it was great!! We wrapped up our time on the glacier playing cornhole while waiting for the helicopter to bring the rest of our group.

This tour was phenomenal! Having been on both Seavy's Ididaride Dog Sled (Cart) tour in Seward and this one, I can say they are both fantastic experiences. At the Seward location there were more puppies to play with and they had a better display/presentation on the Iditarod sled race. But the actual dog sledding on a glacier that was offered here cannot be matched! Everything was fantastic, from the stunning views on the helicopter ride (roughly 6 min) to/from the glacier to the 2 mile ride itself. Both tours are absolutely worth their money and the guides clearly love what they do (so be kind and tip well).
It is pricey, but if you can afford to tack on the helicopter sight seeing tour to your dogsledding tour that would be a great way to round out the experience. I did not do this but everyone else in my time slot did, and after the short ride to/from the dog camp on the glacier I wish I'd also booked a heli tour. It's a fun way to see the amazing Alaskan wilderness.

This was a true highlight of our time in Alaska. The employees were very hospitable and friendly. The dogs were well trained and friendly. Also, the puppies were super fun.
Pro Tip: if you're up for a little adventure and have the helicopter to yourself, ask the pilot for a more a little more exciting trip down off the glacier. Our pilot made some pretty fun/sharp turns, following the creek!
It was probably about 40 degrees, with no wind. So dress accordingly. Bring sunglasses, a hat, and gloves.
