It was absolutely amazing! Beautiful sunset. So many mantas swam so close! It was a trip of a lifetime. Captain Dan and the crew took great care of us. Might want to take something for motion sickness. My husband began getting seasick while in the water watching for mantas. But he said that the motion sickness didn’t diminish how amazing the mantas were.

Absolutely incredible experience. We had at least 6 giant manta rays continually brush against us. They were between 600 and 1200 pounds. So gentle and safe! An absolute must do on your bucket list. Captain Dan and crew were so professional and amazing. Tip them well as they deserve it. My only nit: The white wine ($10) on board was good, but the red wine was undrinkable. It burned going down! Have snacks at the Cheeky Tiki before as there is no food on board other than a cookie at the end (8:30). The restaurant has good service and 1 minute walk to check in. If you get early, you can park in free parking lot behind restaurants.

Amazing experience! I was a little Leary of a night time snorkel, but those fears soon were forgotten. This company is top notch. They provide instruction, gear , hospitality, professionalism and enthusiasm. The boat was beautiful, the sunset breathtaking, and the mantas… beyond all expectations. Amazing to watch them barrel roll right next to us, sometimes brushing gently against us. An hour in the water went by so fast. After reviewing many companies, we chose konastyle and so glad we did. Thanks for an experience I will never forget!

We received this tour as a wedding gift from one of our friends and it was hands down the highlight of our honeymoon! Captain Dan and his crew were kind, fun and knowledgeable. They all had a great sense of humor and made sure everyone was having an enjoyable evening. The sunset views were incredible and we saw TONS of manta rays in the water. They played great music on the boat + there was an open bar (which we didn't realize was going to be provided -- added perk!). We highly recommend going through Kona Style for any ocean tours you're considering booking while in Kona.

We absolutely loved the manta ray experience during our honeymoon. They were pros at explaining everything we needed to know in order to attract the rays and not tire out. I also appreciated how accommodating they were of elderly people. They answered every single question and were so patient with everyone. Some standout crew mates I recall were the lovely Brittany, and Curly as well as the captain. Great crew! Gold stars all around.

TLDR: My Dad and I were looking for an activity to use our travel voucher on and decided to go with the Sunset and Manta Ray Snorkel. This trip was top notch, from start to finish. The professionalism and crew dynamic is an experience in itself. They are a blast to hang out with and make it feel like you’re out with long-time friends. It’s no surprise to me that Kona Style is ranked #1 Catamaran here on Trip Advisor. If I could give them a higher rating than Excellent, I would! — Full detailed review of the experience: A few hours prior we received a super detailed (and informative) text with everything we needed to know ahead of time. They even answered additional questions via text almost immediately! We arrived well ahead of time and checked in. Our check-in experience was super smooth with iPad waiver signing, paid for parking, and got our boat boarding passes easy-peasy. When it was time to gather and do the safety briefing, all instructions were super clear and it let us all know exactly what to expect with boarding and departure. Boarding was efficient and quick. We were all loaded up and ready to go. The crew introduced themselves, all super friendly (and good senses of humor). It’s clear from the start that they truly enjoy what they are doing and want to ensure that folks have a great experience. The boat ride flew by, it was a quick 30 minutes. Great tunes, full bar, and amazing view as the sun was setting. Also, I really appreciated that the crew made good use of the travel time to fit everyone for gear so that by the time we arrived, we could get out into the water as soon as we were done enjoying the sunset. This whole process didn’t feel rushed or stressful, you just start to notice a gradual shift in folks getting suited up. Super seamless execution by the crew - you’d hardly notice unless you were paying attention. Sunset was gorgeous. The boat was anchored so we could all enjoy and take photos and videos. There’s really no better way to enjoy a Big Island sunset than on the water - highly recommend it if you’ve never experienced this before. As soon as the sun was down, the crew snapped into action. We had another safety briefing and clear instructions for getting in the water and what to do once we were in the water. There were crew members at each step of the way to ensure a safe and expedient file in to the ocean. We had a manta almost immediately, the crew shouted in excitement and encouraged folks make haste in getting set up. I couldn’t believe that they came up so quickly! (Note: From what they shared, each experience is unique - and it may not necessarily happen like this every time). There were always at least two to three crew members in the water (maybe more?) to help anyone that needed it. They made sure everyone felt super comfortable and safe - that you could just focus on enjoying the experience and leave the rest with them. As the mantas would come and go (“buffet style” as they called it) Curly or Britt would provide helpful reminders (ie. “relax those shoulders” and “float with the motion of the ocean”) and also share fun facts about the history of the mantas here. They were super knowledgeable and even could recognize these mantas by name. It’s so clear how much they love and respect these amazing creatures. My Dad and I had a great time in the water - they weren’t kidding when they said the mantas would get up real close to you (just inches away from your face) but it was so fun just floating there and admiring them. They are fascinating to observe and be around. Stay in the water as long as you can to get as much view time as possible. You never know how many you’ll see or when they will come and go! If you have an underwater box or sleeve for your phone you’ll definitely get some great footage (Tip: Make sure your flash is disabled and do videos instead of photos - then just take stills of your video). The 45 mins(?) in the water flew by - and just as efficiently as we got into the water - the crew helped us to get back onto the boat safely. It can be a little tricky getting back on if the water is choppy. The crew was super helpful in guiding folks back on board - there was always a guiding hand to help you along. As you boarded, they had a system in place to collect gear and get you back to the seating area. It was so cool to see them in action and how well they operated as a team. Once back on board, there was complementary hot chocolate and tea - and one of the crew members even had some individually wrapped cookies / snacks they were handing out. It was nice to take a moment to warm up and dry off while the crew readied the boat to head back to shore. Some folks got sea sick on the way back - but that didn’t put a damper on the trip because everyone knew what to do if that happened - go see the captain. Props to the Captain for making the whole being sick scenario not a big deal or making anyone feel bad if it happens. Pro-Tip: Take Dramamine 30 minutes before departing the harbor and you should be fine, the crew also has some tips and tricks to help anyone that might start to feel it coming on (ie. ginger candies etc.) We were back in no time. The whole experience from start to finish was more than we hoped for. I wanted to extend a HUGE thanks to the crew - especially Curly, First Mate Britt, and Captain Dan. We will definitely be back again for more excursions with Kona Style! Mahalo!
