Itinerary
Jump on the Surf School Bus and we will get you from wherever you're staying in Waikiki to the beach and up and riding! We offer a complimentary courtesy shuttle. Our knowledgeable staff will meet you at one of our convenient hotel pick-up locations. You’ll be stoked to ride in our air-conditioned, clean, easy-to-spot yellow Surf School Bus or white shuttle with our logo on the side. We will then shuttle you to our Ohana Surf Center located in the Waikiki Beach Marriott. From there you will get checked-in, geared up, will watch our safety presentation and then will be shuttled to the beach for some surfing!
Once by the ocean, you will meet your instructor and talk about your previous experience, swimming strength or any other concerns or conditions, then we’ll have you walk your high quality lesson boards to the beach. When you’re comfortable and ready, we leash ourselves to the board and into the water we go!
After the lesson, you’ll be taken back to the Ohana Surf Center where you can check out photographs, videos, or buy some merch for yourself or friends. Then after your purchases are made, we drive you back to one of our convenient drop off locations.

Traveler pickup is offered
We offer courtesy pickup from Waikiki from our four standard pickup locations 10-45 minutes prior to your lesson time:
(1) Ilikai Hotel
(2) Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador Hotel
(3) Don Ho Lane Van Depot
(4) Hyatt Regency
For customers staying at the Ala Moana Hotel, Hale Koa Hotel, Kahala Hotel and Resort, The Ritz Carlton or The Ka La'i Waikiki Beach, we may be able to arrange a special pickup closer to the hotel with a notification call or email at least 24 hours in advance.
If either the customer or accompanying guest has a handicap or injury and needs to arrange a special pickup, please call or email us with 24 hours notice and we are more than happy to come directly to your hotel.

Must be 13 years or older and able to swim to join the Open Group Lesson.
If any participants cannot swim, please advise the staff ahead of time as a private lesson will be required.

If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).

Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
Lesson size varies and has a ratio of 1 instructor for every 4 students.
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. With at least 24 hours notice, we will do our best to accommodate Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese speaking-instructors.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact us.

Everyone was supper awesome and supportive! Over all a supper great first experience surfing!! Would definitely recommend to anyone that’s looking for a really great first time experience with surfing!

Family was visiting and wanted a surf lesson. We choose Ohana Surf Project because they are highly recommended!! I now know why. Booking was simple. Jenny had excellent customer service. We were greeted with smiles and excitement when we arrived. The team is professional, encouraging and fun. All 4 of us were able to stand up on our boards! Ages 12- 50!!! We felt safe with all the instructors- Cole and Alana were great!!
The best part was the photos!!! Thank you Chelsie for the memories!!! We will cherish them forever!!! (BUY THE PHOTOS!) Worth every penny!!

This lesson was so much fun, I went twice! Really clear explanations, patient instructors, and easy conditions. I had never surfed before and they made it really easy to learn quickly! Would absolutely recommend a lesson here.

Best 2hr group lesson surfing. After a quick instruction and safety briefing in the shop we boarded to surf school bus to the beach, it’s a short ride but appreciated! We had Mark as our instructor and well what a guy! He had us do some stretches on the beach and had us practice our technique before heading to the water. My husband managed to stand on every wave which was incredible! I struggled a little but Mark and the other guys out there were great by giving advice and guidance for the next waves. I managed to stand a couldn’t have enjoyed myself anymore! We even purchased the videos and photos after….well worth it for some amazing action shots we had no idea were being taken.
Thank you so much Mark and the Ohana surf team, we had so much fun!!

Pretty much, you learn by doing. Surfing for almost 1.5 full hours. Excellent experience. Kids had a great time.

First time surfing for my 2 daughters. They enjoyed every minute and didn’t want it to end. They felt safe in the ocean and had a great time learning with their instructor Jayden. Mahalo!

It's fun to be in a lesson when the coach really wants to see you excel. And the multiple coaches made it feel like it was one-on-one.
Everything about our time with this organization was fantastic. Great communication with the van pick up and lots of encouragement out on the waves.
Our family would recommend Ohana Surf Project to everyone!

No pressure to stand up. If riding a wave on your belly or on the knees is your thing then just enjoy the experience. Ohana surf, such a good experience I went twice. Best tip of the day 'just look at the trees', the rest will come naturally.

Great group of instructors! This was my 60th bday bucket list to do and they were all very helpful with everyone and never gave up helping everyone achieve the goal. Some took a little longer😜😜but they kept helping til it was accomplished. Aloha
