My favorite part was the end section with DC characters. Guide was very pleasant and informative. They should update to include more recent films.

If you're a lover of old movies, as everyone on our tour was, this is a disappointment. You see very little - mostly the outside of buildings. Instead of movie clips of the great films shot inside sound stages, the guide reads off titles from the plaques on the doors. There are a handful of photos showing how props were used, but why not show us production stills from all those great soundstage sets, or more than just two or three clips from the movies that shot on the backlot streets (the WB library is deep and there's the opportunity for dozens of these on the three hour tour). I maybe learned two bits of trivia from the whole experience. We spent more time in the Friends cafe, studio store, Harry Potter and DC Comics pavilion than experiencing anything of the studio's history.
The most exciting part of the WB tour is that you're touring a working studio, so you catch glimpses of sets and stages (and George Clooney's parking spot) for current productions (mostly tv), but that's not what a "Classic" tour is about. Might as well take the regular tour and save an hour. Pointing at a window where Bette Davis once had her suite or, from a distance, the windows of Jack Warner's one time office, or pointing out a new building on the site where an old building once was, or reciting the years that each soundstage was built (pretty much all the same)... not worth the price or time. The only soundstage we went inside was the set for the current revival of "Night Court..." which all the tours visit and has absolutely nothing to do with classic movies.
I will say that the guide we had was personable and fun, and really tried and all of the facilities are modern, expansive, clean... there's even a Starbucks in the reception area, easy parking and, for the Classic Tour, free refreshments while you wait.
This is SUCH a great idea, and with the resources of TCM, the library of Warner Bros, and a deeper training of guides - more stories, more studio history, more of the character that made Warners distinctive from MGM or Paramount in the heyday of the studio system - it would be so easy to make this something special.

I have been wanting to tour WB for years and finally they offered the TCM Classic Films Tour. On a beautiful Southern California day the Tour was perfect in every way. After arriving and waiting for our TG we were escorted to a lounge with full refreshments. Our TG was warm, friendly and very informative of the WB Studios. We drove down streets we've seen in many TV shows or movies. We were shown where movies had been filmed and by which stars. For myself, I loved seeing the "old studio" buildings, because they're the ones you see in the arial view with the arches and as we drove passed them, it made me think of All the famous actors who had walked down these streets. It' a tour, of many memories of the past Golden Age.

We were not sure what to expect. But on arrival it became clear, prior to the tour you go to a lounge where complimentary refreshments are available. George our tour guide was brilliant, incredibly knowledgeable about the studios. Just a great way to spend a morning.

This was our 5th Warner Brothers Studio Tour and we have also toured Paramount twice and Universal several times. For us, the TCM Tour was very boring. Most of it was a drive around closed sound stages. It is nice to see the Prop Room, the Rose Garden, and the costumes but that isn’t enough. We were looking for more specifics. The use of more video clips and more “behind the scenes” stories and visuals as to how and where at the studio certain classic films were made. Most of the tour is very generalized and not what we were hoping for at all.

This tour was amazing, a two hour guided trip through most of the studio including the back lot. Our guide was excellent, with encyclopedic knowledge of Warner's history. You get to walk through famous "streets" like New York Street and Chicago. You go inside some of the false-front buildings, tour the massive prop shop. There are also interactive aspects to the tour at the beginning and end, making it over three hours total, plus there are complimentary refreshments. If you are a TCM fan or just love Golden Age Hollywood, this is the tour for you. Don't miss it!
