Visit: El Milongon, Gaboto 1810, Montevideo 11812 Uruguay

Experience a traditional tango show and enjoy an authentic Uruguayan dinner during a fun night out in Montevideo! Upon arrival at the venue, you'll be taken to your table, where you’ll try a variety of dinner and dessert dishes including barbequed meat and flan (shortbread cookies) filled with dulce de leche (creamy caramel), accompanied by wine, soda or juice.

During the performance, see exceptional dancers perform tango and other types of folklore dances including candombe, an African dance with complex choreography, and milonga, which is similar to the tango. The dining tables are set up near the performance stage, so you can enjoy your meal at your own pace while watching the show.

This experience is a “disneyfication” from what I can tell. The performers and serving were great , but the wine and food were (in my opinion) acceptable only. The wine was lower grade as was the food. The venue is beautiful, however. Not an authentic experience.

The program well introduced various cultural dances and songs of Uruguay. However, some of the dancers were out of synch and the food was less than mediocre. To the location’s credit, we attended the show on Christmas Eve’s eve (December 23rd) so maybe the usual dancers and cook were not working that day.

The tango performances were great. The cambonde was sort of pathetic, but I was spoiled by seeing the real thing first night of Carnival. All the performers and staff were very professional You'd think for $85/person there would be a decent sound system. Not true. Sound came clearly from one end of the room as the singer stood, apparently vocalizing, at the other. The steak was tough, thin, and grizzly. The sides and desert were totally uninspired. Still, if you don't mind paying the price, it's a good show.

There was minimal tango dancing, it was more elderly people singing and the food was not great. I recommend finding another option, this was my first disappointing experience with a Viator offering.

Food and wine was very average - probably the worst we ate in all of South America. The dancing and the shows were amazing, so it's worth to go and see for the, but maybe there are other options with better food?
