Explore Shell Key Preserve, located in the mouth of Tampa Bay, a 195 acre barrier Island. You will experience beautiful, calm and protected back bay waters and spot dolphins, seabirds, manatees and other wildlife on the trip.

The "Pass", as locals refer to it, was created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848. A pirate, John Levique, made the first passage through the newly created pass. Hence the name, Johns Pass. Over one hundred merchants with unique retail shopping, a variety of restaurants and local tour operators.

Often referred to as “Mad Beach” by the locals, this beach hosts soft, white sand and is a great place to spot dolphins.

Todd and his co-captain were extremely welcoming and friendly. The day was beautiful and the ferry was safe, relaxing, reliable and informative. Definitely want to go again!

This trip was better than I expected! We rode out to Shell Key through the channel and saw all the beautiful homes and a few dolphins. The island was such a natural break from civilization, very relaxing. Our return trip was along the coast. Hard to say what was better: shelling on the island or the ride to/from it. The boat was well supplied with snacks and beverages ($). Plus it had a restroom.

Loved the boat ride!!! That actually made the trip for us. It was nice to see all the beautiful homes along the waterway and then they brought us back along the beaches. Nice to see it all from that perspective. The island was nice too but we really didn’t get many shells. We were hoping to get something new/different but didn’t find anything. I’m sure that different with each trip they do. Captain and his assistant were super nice and they made a necklace out of shells we found if we wanted.

Nice trip viewing sights along the inter coastal. We saw a large pod of dolphins right next to the pontoon. Great shelling & beautiful water.

Awesome trip seashells were all over the beach we also saw a ton of dolphin great trip a manatee swam within 10 ft of me on the beach

Great ride to shell key stopped to follow dolphins. Shell Key was great walked the beach found many great shells. Coming back found a group of dolphins with baby dolphins. Great trip.

Nice trip to shell key. The captains were great. An hour was plenty of time to collect alot of shells. Loved the ride to and from shell key. Would recommend for something fun to do that didn't take all day.

Individual herding people into waiting area was unpleasant at most!
