Itinerary
1. Opening (10min)
Self-introduction of the teacher.
We will talk about the relationship between Tokyo and manga.
2. Warm up (10min)
Draw a face using ○△□. You will experience how even simple parts can be used to express rich individuality.
3. Parts combination (30min)
Create an original character by combining facial contours, eyes, nose, and mouth.
The participants compete to see whose character is more handsome.
4. Draw a chibi character (40min)
Create a chibi character of a family member or friend.
You will experience traditional Mnaga creation, including penning, paint colors, screen tones, etc.
The works will be presented to the partner.
5. Create four-panel comics (30min)
We use the simple and quick method to finish your four-panel comics.
We draw it using Tokyo's yuru-kyara (the mascot characters for Tokyo.) or recent events.

Our experience was amazing due to Mr.Maekawa’s guidance and explanation of the fundamentals of drawing and expressing emotions/stories through art. He is encouraging and adaptive to everyone’s learning style. I will never forget this, as I was waiting for something like this since I was 11 years old! A total dream come true.

After the lesson had finished my daughter said to me “this was one of her highlights in Japan”. Thank you so much, you’ve taught Lola so many techniques which she will use. ( I’ve already ordered the g-pen & ink ) 😂 Must do & definitely recommend! Love from Australia x

This workshop was a fun way to learn some fundamentals of manga character creation, manga artist tools, and 4-panel manga.
The instructor and translator were both top-notch and although the class is fast-paced, I never felt rushed and I had chances to ask all the questions I wanted.
If you're looking for something creative to do and experience a unique aspect of Japanese culture, I highly recommend booking this class.
Bonus: if you're into learning Japanese language, this class provides listening opportunities, as instruction is in Nihongo and then translated to English.

I joined with my brother and we are both Manga lovers.
It was a unique and fun time.Two hours passed so fast since we were so into drawing Manga!
The teacher is a famous Manga artist of Ace attorney, so I was super excited to learn from him.
Definitely one of the top recommended activities in Japan!

I am a fan of Maekawa's work, Ace Attorney, and was very happy to be able to take lessons.
I was able to learn how to draw characters and how to structure a manga story.
I highly recommend this experience.

This was such a great experience.
I went with my sister here while we were on vacation in Tokyo.
I especially enjoyed drawing an original manga style character.
Teacher Maekawa had so many helpful tips and was so encouraging.
And English interpreter was always available.

Really great experience! Kazuo-san is a master at his craft and meaningfully helped improve my drawing and storytelling techniques in one session. I will be continuing ongoing classes with him!

Aloha Manga were wonderful, my son loves manga and wanted to get better at drawing manga style so we wrote Aloha Manga as asked about a lesson whilst visiting Shibuya.
They were very welcoming and kind setting up a lesson with Professor Maekawa, wow such an accomplished professional it is simply a life experience.
Aki helped schedule, guide, ,and take care of us from the start simply a superstar.
Prof. Maekawa was so educational and helpful, everyone there was welcoming, knowledgable and had amazing sense of humor!
We are beginners but they were so patient and kind, this was really educational, and insightful.
We left with new skills, and my son with renewed passion for drawing, this was such a positive experience I recommend Aloha Manga for a wonderful and educational Manga experience. Thank you and we appreciate each of you so much.

I attended the manga workshop with my brother and it was a great experience.
You can listen to small stories about anime and manga, and you can actually experience manga creation.
I concentrated on designing my favorite Demon Slayer characters.

I have always loved anime and manga, and I’m so glad I found this workshop in Shibuya!
During the two-hour beginner manga lesson, you can actually experience being a manga artist using professional tools.
Definitely one of the top highlights of my trip. I highly recommend this experience. The location is also convenient since we were staying in Shibuya.
