The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha, the principal Buddha in Pure Land Buddhism. It is located in the Kotoku-in Temple, which dates back to the 13th century. The statue is about 11.4 meters tall and weighs about 121 tons. It is one of the most famous landmarks of Kamakura and a symbol of Japanese Buddhism. You can enter the temple grounds for 300 yen and see the statue up close. You can also go inside the statue for 20 yen and observe its hollow interior and structure.

The dragon and the goddess fell in love and became the protectors of the island. Benzaiten is the patron of music and art, and many people visit her shrine on Enoshima to pray for her blessings. The shrine is also famous for its colorful statue of Benzaiten with eight arms. Enoshima has been a popular tourist destination since the Edo period, especially for Kabuki actors who admire Benzaiten’s talent.

Shonan coast walk From the railway crossing and the road, you can go down the stairs to the beautiful Shonan coast, one of the best surfing spots in Japan. You can enjoy the beach, the waves, and the relaxing atmosphere. If you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji on the horizon.
