The Totumo volcano is a volcanic cone full of mud, which is located in the rural area of the municipality of Santa Catalina, in the Caribbean Region of Colombia, next to the Ciénaga del Totumo and near the border with the department of Atlántico.

The trip was lots of fun. Really enjoyed it. The only downside is that the locals don’t have a great way of keeping track of who does what for you. At the end of your experience they all want money and it gets very frustrating. It is worth it though. The tour company is very accommodating. We ended up with the wrong group by accident. They were extremely helpful making sure we got back to it ship on time. I can’t thank them enough times.

Our tour guide was super sweet and attentive to us. She taught us about the history of Colombia and the culture on the way to the volcano. She also made us feel very safe.

La playa es muy bonita, el agua también, lástima que la llegada por tierra es horrible. Llegas por detrás de los chiringuitos de comida, hostales, todo muy sucio, basura, moscas, mal olor. Luego llegas a la playa, donde las reposeras y locales de comida dejan una pequeña franja de arena para los bañistas. Los vendedores y las masajistas no te dejan en paz. Los baños son improvisados, apenas un hueco en el piso, todo esto es culpa de las autoridades que no controlan ni regulan nada. NO CULPO a la agencia, el paseo estuvo muy bien, la comida, el snorquel, todo correcto. Es un hermoso lugar sin regulación ninguna y sobreexplotado por el hombre. no volvería.
