Our guide Akiko was incredible. She was incredibly sweet and very knowledgable. At the fish market, she would point out stalls she recommended we try and we would ask if we should try certain foods at certain places and she'd give great suggestions. She was also really good about taking our pictures. From the fish market, we went to a sushi restaurant and learned how to make sushi. The staff didn't speak English but Akiko was a great translater for us and everyone there was so sweet. We got so much food and it was such a fun experience. I defintely recommend.

Yoko took us to Tsukiji Market and was so knowledgeable about the area, food and history. Her English is impeccable and was really open to questions and flexible to our needs. She's a wonderful guide. We would have never seen so much had we done this on our own. She then took us to a sushi restaurant in Asakusa where we learned to make sushi from the chef there. It was so fun to do and the fish was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Yoko and this tour.

This tour was incredibly overpriced, provided no value, and the guide made me so uncomfortable as a solo female traveler I literally had to run away from him. From what I understand, the guide had only been working with the company for about a month, but that doesn't excuse his lack of knowledge. I paid for a tour hoping to learn about the fish market, the food, the culture etc. However, the guide offered zero information, he rushed around the market, and just pointed to stalls/restaurants saying "you want to buy this?". I asked him why I'd want to buy something to see if he offered any details about what he was telling us to buy. Was it a special item, what was unique about it, was it traditional? He just shrugged. Instead of focusing on food stalls, he seemed particularly interested in showing us tea and knife shops, I'm assuming for commission. To make things even worst, he made me feel so uncomfortable by the end that a couple that was on the tour offered to walk me back to my hotel because the guide just wouldn't leave me alone. (I even said I was going to leave early before the tour ended just to try to shake him off and instead he said he was going to join the couple and I to take the train to where we were going.) We didn't want to be rude to him, but by the time we arrived at our train stop, I literally ran away into a crowd so he would not follow me. The tour was bad, but the experience with the pushy guide made for a horrible first time experience in Japan. Ironically, Japan is always listed as one of the safest countries for a solo female traveler! Note that I've been to 50+ countries and have traveled alone, so it's rare that a man makes me feel uncomfortable, but this guide literally had me running away from him. I went back to the fish market a few days later by myself and it was SO MUCH BETTER to just walk around alone exploring the different stalls at my own pace. I recommend you do the same. I'm not sure what the tour offered that validated the $100+ price tag? It didn't include anything and there were tours a fraction of the price offering just a guided tour.

Experience described as 4 hour sushi making and fish market tour however the majority of the time was spent wandering round the fish market and travelling to the sushi making venue. The actual sushi making was poor as the chef didn’t speak English and only a small part seemed to be translated by the guide. Raw ingredients were already out on the table when we arrived so it was just an assembly task which was very rushed so they could get the next lot in. Would not recommend.

Tour operator was very patient to accommodate our unexpected change in timings and was communicative. Whilst we did miss the market tour, the sushi making experience was fun!
