Itinerary
Explore an abandoned underground slate mine following the old quarryman's footsteps, with various optional challenges along the way, including; climbing, an abseil, a short tyrolean/ zipline and a short boat crossing. All of which can be avoided by scrambling around.
This is an authentic experience with the only changes to the mine being the addition of safety anchors where necessary, as such, it is most similar to caving with the only lights being those on your headtorches (provided).
There will be options to learn about history and processes that created these caverns and tunnels, for those that are interested. If you've been underground before, get in touch, we have a number of underground adventures to keep you coming back for more.
This activity is very popular with families and school groups, but we also guide a number of couples and adult groups. There is about a 30minute walk up hill to approach this mine and at the end of the trip you'll emerge near the top of the mountain and hopefully have lovely views walking down.
All under 18's must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Wow! What an amazing day out with the family. This was the highlight of our family holiday to snowdonia!
Excellent communication with Sol and our adventure guide Sam was fantastic from the start. His engagement with our 13,11 & 8 year old throughout the day made our adventure truly memorable. From climbing to rafting, abseiling to Traversing this trip has it all.
Sam’s knowledge and passion made the whole experience feel safe and exciting. One day out the kids will be talking about for years to come.

Honestly, hands down, the best experience of my husband and my life. Not sure what we expected, but it exceeded them all. The booking was easy, the communication was excellent. I really don't know how much more I can say. A nice long steep walk prior to the cave, then sheer delight at walking through big puddles followed by an underground of caverns, ropes, ziplines, abseiling and climbing (all optional) Very highly recommended and will definitely re-book! Very worth the money.

Great afternoon with our guide Sol who was very knowledgeable about the mine and it's history. Our trek though the mines was done at our own pace and we had choices whether or not to do certain challenges.
Great experience would highly recommend !!

Wonderful family day out. We booked the underground adventure with Sol. Sol was great with our 12 year old! He had a great sense of humor, was kind, knowledgeable, and kept us all safe. Sol is very personable and I’m sure will make any one of their offered trips a blast. We throughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it for others. If we are ever back in north Wales we will be sure to book another adventure with Sol!

We went as a family of 5 with a 12, 10 and 8 year old. We had such a good time with Sol, everything was very easy and efficient booking wise. We spent all afternoon with Sol doing abseiling, rock climbing and exploring the mines. Sol was very knowledgable and made the children feel at ease. It was the perfect level of challenge for them. I can’t recommend Sol more highly we are definitely going to be back to do another adventure.

We had an amazing time exploring an old slate mine with Sol. We booked a private cave exploring day which included lots of activities inside such as abseiling and a zip line. It was slightly physically challenging, but no problem for a 12 & 11 year old, and a 6 year old with a bit of help with her carabiners. We are already thinking about booking another activity day next summer!

Visiting the Snowdonia area for the week we were looking to do something different with our 2 adventurous kids aged 11 and 8. Could not have done any better than this! A 4.5 underground journey in the pitch dark climbing, hiking, abseiling, zip lining and boating on lakes with only the light from our head torches to guide us was full of positive surprises and so much fun.
Sol’s experience as a guide and a Llanberis mountain rescue team member meant we felt safe at all times. He’s a super professional, chilled guy, fantastic with the kids and provided loads of fun facts which our 8-yr old is still spouting days later. We did a private tour for our family which given the length of the trip with all equipment (down to our wellies) included, I thought was a great value day out.
Sadly we didn’t have enough time left to do the canyoning as well. Next time!

We were recently in Wales for a boys weekend away (stag do) and had the pleasure of a day full of adventure with Sol and Sam. We had both Mine exploration and Canyoning booked which meant it was a full on day but it was incredible. I simply cannot recommend this enough to everyone and I will be returning with my family. We were well looked after with snacks all day and cake and beer at the end. Sol and Sam both joined in with our banter and just increased the fun we had, if you are in wales you need to book this
