Accompanied by your expert art historian guide, you will be immersed into a thrilling adventure of history, masterpieces, and secrets that for millennia have been secured within the fortified walls of Vatican City. Learn about its ancient origins, how archaic pagan rituals were practiced on the Vatican Hill, and how later in Roman times the Apostle Peter was crucified by order of the Emperor Nero.
In the Vatican Museum you will see highlights of the immense art collection including classical sculptures, Renaissance tapestries, and the spectacular Gallery of the Maps. Deep inside the ancient papal palace you may be shocked to learn how two magnificent apartments bore witness to the worst pope and darkest moments of the Catholic church, but you will also be astounded by the beauty of Raphael’s legendary paintings which adorn some of those very walls.

Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy
At the Sistine Chapel you will be awestruck as you gaze at Michelangelo’s Ceiling and Last Judgement. Absolute silence is required inside this place of worship, so your guide will have already explained what these masterpieces mean and why they are so celebrated. You will have also learnt about the papal conclave and the fabled moment when white smoke rises from a chimney on the Sistine Chapel roof, the sign that the cardinals have elected the new pope.

Stop At: St. Peter's Square, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy
Next, is a short walk to your final stop, St. Peter’s Square. On the way you will marvel at the imposing fortified wall which surrounds the world’s smallest country and see the Swiss Guards on duty at the Vatican’s main gate. From the magnificent square you will also be able to admire the imposing St Peter’s Basilica, it will be closed by this time, but your guide will give you an introduction about its origins, history and what there is to see within.

Jeb is an absolutely first rate tour guide. He imparted a lot of information and he kept the tour moving at a nice brisk pace. There were only four people on this tour so it was almost like having a private guide. Highly recommended.

Jeb was an amazing tour guide. Not only was his knowledge outstanding, but his passion for the Vatican Museum and friendly manner made this tour such a joy. The museum is huge but Jeb knew where to stop, pause and take things in, and which parts to hurry past. I feel like I learnt so much too. Thank you for a great afternoon - our Europe adventure is only just beginning, but I think this tour will be tough to beat!

Jeb was an amazing tour guide. The Vatican Museum is truly breathaking and he knew so much about every little thing. You could tell just how passionate he is about his job, making the experience all the more enjoyable. I'd highly recommend his tour to anyone visiting!

Excellent tour with Jeb. His ability to share his knowledge was interesting, easy to understand & he made all members of the group feel welcome to ask questions. A smaller group later in the afternoon was perfect to move around the rooms & easy to stay together. We would highly recommend taking this tour with Jeb, as importantly there is so much to see and read, we felt Jeb was able to concentrate on the major points of interest & really explore it fully. Extremely handy to have the printed leaflet as well to refer to & take away. Thank you Jeb.

Jeb was an excellent guide. The group was small and as an art graduate he guided us ably and with great insight around the Vatican museums. We simply would not have got as much from our visit without his presence. Thanks Jeb.

Our tour got canceled just 3 days before arrival. Without any explanation, we are very disappointed, as right now all tickets to Vatican by all providers got sold out. Avoid this provider to avoid disappointment.

Jeb was a fabulous guide-/ the best guide we had while visiting Rome! Knowledgeable, caring, and moved at the right pace so that we saw the important highlights of the vast Vatican. We avoided crowds too! Overall, a pleasant experience and the only way to visit the Vatican and Sistine Chapel!
