Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: The Singleton Distillery, A832, Muir of Ord IV6 7UJ Scotland

The brand new distillery visitor centre is a sight to behold and a wonderful place to start the day enjoying some whiskies from their menu. Singleton 18 Rare by Nature is one of our favourites and this is one of the only places you'll find it on a menu. Lots of other whiskies including a bottle your own which you will only find at the distillery.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Struie Hill, Tain IV19 1LD, UK

We will take you to one of our favourite views in Scotland for some chocolate paired whisky tastings from our private collection. It changes throughout the year as new bottles are released and old bottles are finished off with friends and family. Millionaires View is the perfect place to enjoy a dram or two with Inverness Whisky Tours.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Glenmorangie Distillery, on the A9 Ross-shire, IV19 1PZ Scotland

Guests often decide to tour the distiery (£18pp which includes 2 tastes). Please let us know if you would like a tour booked and we can make enquiries about availability on your chosen date.

It's also possible to drop in to watch a short presentation followed by some tastes from their extensive menu. One of our favourite whiskies in the world is The Signet which can be purchased on site for £145 a bottle but they'll let you taste it for £10 and it's worth every penny.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Dornoch, Dornoch, Caithness and Sutherland, Scottish Highlands, Scotland

By this time of day it's usually time to give your palette a wee rest so we take a short drive over the Dornoch Firth and in to Dornoch for lunch. There are lots of options including the Highland Larder where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood at the beach.

While visiting Dornoch it would be rude not to drop by the Dornoch Castle Hotel which is home to one of Scotland's newest distilleries and one of the finest whisky collections in the Highlands. What's even better is they're all on the menu and and available to purchase by the dram. Sunny day? Then it's out to their gardens to enjoy a whisky in the sunshine or if it's a "wee bit chilly" then the castle bar is an extremely pleasant place to enjoy a fine single malt in the company of locals. The Angry Seagull Food truck has been operating there this year so this has been a popular option for fish and chips and other tasty treats.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: The Carnegie Whisky Cellars, The Carnegie Courthouse, Castle Street, Dornoch IV25 3DF Scotland

A popular stop with our guests featuring lots of delicious whiskies available for purchase from old favourites to rare bottles. There's even the option to post your bottles home (depending on where you live) so there's no limit to how many bottles you can purchase. They will also post bottles you have purchased elsewhere so long as you purchase at least one bottle in their shop.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Balblair Distillery, Edderton IV19 1LB Scotland

Another popular distillery to tour is Balblair whether it's an Original Tour (£20pp) or the more in depth Signature Tour (£45pp) you will not be disappointed. Alternatively if you just want to drop by for a taste their very knowledgable and friendly staff will give you an introduction to the distillery followed by a taste of the 12, 15, 18 and Single Cask.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Black Isle Brewery, Old Allangrange, Munlochy IV8 8NZ Scotland

If there's time then we usually make a quick pit stop at the Black Isle Brewery for a chat and a wee taste of some delicious craft beers. Optional but often a hit with our guests.

I can’t say enough good things about our day with Gavin/ Inverness Whiskey Tours, it exceeded all our expectations. I planned this day for my husband, as he is the Scotch whiskey drinker in our family, but this tour had plenty of things for me as well. First, Gavin is from the Highlands so we learned about whiskey, the community and the beautiful lands. We took the tour at Glenmorangie and it was informative & fun, finishing with a whiskey tasting. Next up was a tasting at Balblair Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland. Their18 year old whiskey is a must sample! Along our route, Gavin made time for scenic stops/photos and more whiskey tasting. He picked several whiskeys that I enjoyed and had some big peaty/smokey whiskeys that my husband loved. Gavin recommended lunch options for us and we choose an outdoors, pub lunch in Dornoch, and then on to Dunrobin Castle for the tour and falconry exhibition, both were wonderful. On our way back to Inverness we sampled a few more whiskeys and made a quick stop at Black Isle Brewing for a tasting of their beers. (Excellent!). In addition to all this we saw Highland cows, Shetland ponies, seals, birds and the most fabulous vistas. I highly recommend this tour!

Amazing day (2 actually!). Gavin was a gracious knowledgeable local host and guide. He set up a bespoke itinerary prior to the visit. Everything was perfect and as advertised. Highly recommended. Did a second day of sightseeing with one of his colleagues as well—similarly great!

Gavin’s upbeat personality and love of whisky made this tour the ultimate experience, especially for one of us who was not a whisky drinker. His knowledge was exceptional, and he tailored the tour to meet the needs of the day along with chocolate!

Unforgettable day touring the highlands and distilleries with Gavin. Gavin provided helpful information on the distilleries and the whiskey's we were trying, he also gave us recommendations. A beautiful day exploring the highlands around the Inverness area and surrounds. A day of fun, good conversation and tasting some exceptional single malt whiskey's.

I honestly do not have enough good things to say about Gavin and his company. He organized a great day of distilleries and sights for us and it was easily the best day of our vacation. It is obvious he does this because he genuinely loves sharing Scotland (and its whisky) with people. We basically left all the planning up to him and it was the correct choice. He was also able to get us last minute reservations at a fantastic restaurant in Inverness and coordinated a taxi driver (John, who was also a lot of fun to spend time with) for us as well. In short, this is the kind of experience one hopes to have when traveling and very rarely gets. Do yourself a favor and book Gavin himself if you have the opportunity, we can't recommend him highly enough.
