The park is home to more than 300 species of birds, and many other animals, such as armadillos, bays, iguanas, coatis and white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys,
toucans, turkeys, and much more. You will stop to view the volcanic activity including bubbling mud pots, fumaroles, and a mini crater.
The Las Pailas sector spectacularly shows the power of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, the most active and largest volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Steam and sulfur come from natural fumaroles of the yellow and rusty soil. Nice trip very bad guide person. If you pay per a tour you expect a lot of information about the place, also good time management and tips if you have to walk under very high temperature. Our entire group have the same complaint

We did the April 30th tour with Stephanie as our tour guide. The hike was pretty hot being in April but the waterfall hike and swim made it all better. It was beautiful water and had fun suspension "steps" to navigate going to and from the waterfall. it was a fairly large group and I think clearer directions could have been given at some points but overall Stephanie kept us on track and did a great job dealing with unforeseen events like a traffic jam near the Liberia airport and one unhappy, continually complaining participant. Her wildlife knowledge and camera skills were impressive! We enjoyed the tour and would do it again, maybe in a cooler month.

Ivan our guide was fabulous. He was professional, and answered all of our questions. The volcano park area was interesting, while the waterfall was refreshing.
A note - there is a hanging bridge that connects to the waterfall area. It’s very sturdy and fun.
We all enjoyed the hot springs and mud bath.
Diego is a very good driver.
Would highly recommend this tour!

This was an awesome tour from start to finish. Our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone in the group. The national park hike was beautiful, the waterfall was the highlight of our entire trip so far, and the hot springs were fun. The hot springs were a tad too hot for me but there was a cool, gorgeous river that ran by so I went in there instead. Also, the lunch was delicious.

The waterfall was the most wonderful part of this excursion. We also didn’t expect the lunch provided meant we would be at an authentic restaurant which was very delicious.
