An interesting place but they only did guided tours. The tour was led by a guide whom we often couldn’t hear as the group was spread out and it was a very rushed experience.

Bea was a WONDERFUL guide. She knew so much history and shared it all in such a gentle way. I do wish that we would have actually walked up to the fisherman’s bastion vs pointing out where it was. Though the tickets were not included the view would have still been nice to see. With pointing out the facades like this, the tour could have been much shorter. The hospital in the rock tour was also very interesting. I’m so glad to have learned the history from Bea. If I return I think I would walk around the area at my own pace.

The walking tour was okay, no new information that you dont find in all the travel guides. The hospital and bunker are the biggest waste of time and money. There is nothing much different or new to see or hear. The tour is done at high speed and you have no time to look around or read the information provided on the walls. The hospital is no different to any other from the times of the wars and the conditions shown are just the same. There seems to be a belief that the horrors of nuclear war, or any war, are unknown to anyone outside of Hungary and much of the tour is spent "educating" us on the bombs of WW2 and the effect and injuries resulting from them. All info we already know and pictures we have seen. I wouldnt waste timeon this activity

Enjoyed the tour of Castle Hill the best because the tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. The underground hospital was interesting; but a bit depressing.

Noemi was top-notch as a guide. She prepped the tour with a note giving contact information and meeting point directions (which came in handy BTW) and lead the small group through the streets of Buda pointing out the interesting and historic places and providing context to each of the buildings, statues, rulers, and time frames in this centuries-old city. She was well spoken and attentive to questions, stuff people dropped, and was even the photographer for a selfie or two. The Cave visit was at the end of the adventure and had it's own guide (which was also very well done) but Noemi got us there right on time and transitioned the group to the new docent. A+ in my opinion!

Pierre
