Itinerary
We'll pick you up from your hotel and whisk you off to our gorgeous rainforest canyon, about 20 minutes from La Fortuna. On the way you'll transfer to 4x4 trucks for an exciting, short drive to our remote ranch house. Your professional guides will gear you up and provide safety instructions before a morning of excitement and exhilaration! You'll be lead through the canyon, rappelling down tropical waterfalls, rock climbing, and participating in a Monkey drop (zip line & rappel). After a short hike out of the canyon, you'll be picked up and driven about 45 minutes to the famous Balsa River for 2 hours of thrilling white water rafting. On this class 2-3 river you'll experience a good mix of exciting rapids and rainforest exploration. Half way through the adventure, you'll stop for some drinks and snacks and have a chance to go for a swim in a calm river pool. This is a great combo of adrenaline, fun, nature and adventure!

Honestly me and my sister loved this tour so much!!!!
Basically, we met at the puretrek office at 7am for the rappelling part of the tour. A bus takes you all to lockers, where you then transfer to four wheel drive trucks that take you the rest of the way. Once you get there, they gear you up and explain what to do to rappel down the waterfalls. I am personally afraid of heights so was super nervous, but all the staff is so so nice and it ended up being fine! There are 5 rappels and 1 jump, everything was fun! The tallest waterfall was the very first one which was very intimidating, but it got easier as you go along.
Once we came back, we were given a snack and taken to the whitewater place ( a different company), where we arrived around 10:15am. From there we were driven to the starting point of the river (La balsa). Our guide was amazing and we had such a blast! We also saw a sloth which I don’t think is common to see on this tour, but was so fun. The rapids were super fun, and they also served delicious fruit in the middle of it. After the rapids, we were taken to a locals place to eat traditional Costa Rica food (buffet style) and it was delicious!
Can’t say enough good things about this tour, had an AMAZING day and we truly loved all of the staff. Highly recommend!

Best tour!! Rappelling was A. M. A. Z. I. N. G!!!!!!!! I could have done it all day. So fun! Rafting was exciting, jumping off the cliff was fun and the pineapple and beer was a treat!

I had never did repelling or white water rafting before so was pretty nervous for both. However, the staff immediately put my mind at ease at both experiences and I felt safe and well informed. They were both Thrills of a Lifetime and Im posting on Social Immediately highly recommending this experience.

What an amazing time. This was a two part tour woth waterfall rapelling run by Pure Trek and whitewater rafting run by Wave. The handoff was seemless and both companies did an amazing job. Highly recommend this adventure!

Best activity during our 11 day visit! The waterfall rappelling was fun & refreshing. Saw some cool wildlife during rafting on the Sarapiqui River, enjoyed the stop for cliff jumping and snack.

Top notch tour company. We did rappelling with them for the second time and it was just amazing as the first time 8 years ago. We have felt very safe with this company and their equipment looked nearly new. The guides working took their job and safety of the clients very serious. Great adrenaline rush and a MUST do if you are in La Fortuna/Arenal.

What an amazing and fun experience. Our first time rappelling ever. The kids had a blast. The guides were fun, knowledgeable, experienced, and made us feel safe and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this activity all who come to the Arenal and La Fortuna area.

Since this was a package deal I can’t separate out the 2 reviews that’s why it gets a 3. The waterfall rappel was fantastic. The scenery was gorgeous and the guides were amazing. The white water rapids were also an excellent time and the food was delicious. I am giving a lower review because I paid for the picture package for the rafting and have yet to receive them. I have tried contacting the company numerous times and no reply.

Byren was the sweetest tour guide and very patient with our group during rappelling. The rappelling was an unbelievable experience that we will never forget. The water was refreshing to move through.
White water rafting was so exciting and the instructors all had great personalities. The were very charismatic and made the rapids so much fun!
I would definitely do this again.
