Itinerary
We pick up passengers from the cruise ship port, 15 at a time. The drive from cruise ship port to the harbor is 15-17 minutes. Our vessel is a 38ft Power Cat. The tour is 3 hours from start to finish to find Humpback whales, porpoise, sea otters, eagles, seals, brown bear, deer and, possibly, orcas. There is no telling what we may see while out on tour. Our vessel has bench seating, a heated cab, Has rear deck for viewing the wildlife and a restroom on board with a marine head.. A big selling point for our tour is the lack of sea sickness. Our vessel rolls 78% less then traditional mono hull. Our captain has over 30 years of experience. You will have a personalized, small group tour that is informative and comfortable.

If your ship is docked at the Adventure Dock proceed though the Icy Strait facility to the main exit toward the town of Hoonah. Ask any Icy Strait Point employee in a red shirt/jacket for directions to the Main Entrance of Icy Strait Point. Our driver will be waiting at the main gate to pick you up for your tour.
If your ship is docked at the Wilderness Dock you will take the green gondola transport to the Adventure Landing. Upon exiting the gondola turn left and proceed to the walking path to the town of Hoonah. We will be waiting at the main gate to pick you up for your tour.
Our driver will have a Catch of the Day sign.

Captain Dennis and Crystal gave us an amazing trip. We went out with them for the first trip of the Season and the Whales performed. The boat was so comfortable and both Dennis and Crystal were so informative and welcoming, funny and the bonus you are picked up and dropped off in a Limo Hummer

This was a good whale tour. The guide was knowledgeable and nice. Snacks were provided. We were able to be inside the enclosed cabin of the boat or out on the bow to see even better. We did see and follow 1 humpback and watch him feeding. The guide told us that others weren’t finding any active whales but we did hear that wasn’t quite true. Overall the tour was good. My only complaint was that the information advertises a 3 hour trip. Our trip from the time we left the marina until we returned to the marina was 2 hours tops. We would have just enjoyed using that other hour to try to see more whales.

Four of us booked a whale watching boat trip. It turned out to be a very exceptional trip. They took us to several different areas where we saw whales. They let us out in the front of the boat which allowed good picture taking. I would highly recommend this trip.

We had an awesome time with Captain Dennis on our whale watching excursion while in Icy Strait Point / Hoonah on our cruise with NCL. We booked this excursion on our own and couldn't have been more excited to be out on the water with only 2 additional passengers besides us (boat only holds 6 passengers total)! From start to finish, we had the best time learning all about Captain Dennis' business (and how he met his wife, LOL) while we motored out to find the whales. We followed the whales and saw numerous dives and breaches. Crystal, Dennis' wife, was responsible for transportation to / from the dock and was just delightful. We highly recommend this company for whale watching!

Unbelievable time watching bubble netting by humpback whales over and over. Captain Dennis was super and so helpful in forcasting when the whales would surface and where to watch. Having a private boat with just our friends made the experience that much more enjoyable.

This was a really great experience. From the pickup to the drop off every minute was great. Dennis was personable, dependable, likeable and just a good person. Saw lots of whales. Discovered whales have very bad breath. That's how close we were.

Great experience. The owners of this small business are very friendly. They make you feel confortable. We had 2 hours following whales and it was beautiful. Small boat so we where only 6 on board so it was really nice ( hello mexican familiy !)

What a wonderful experience. We followed a mother and her baby. Saw black tail deer at an old Russian cemetery. Loved the smaller ship. Captain was very knowledgeable. It rained most of the time, we stilled had a good time. Diffently will go again.

So much beauty everywhere you look. The water, the greenery. Some of the kindest friendliest local people. Be sure to do the zip line at Icy Strait for the view of a lifetime. Be prepared however, to do a lot of walking. One taxi driver in town and he has limited hours.
