Itinerary

One man, 25 years of experience and an unrivalled passion for fishing.

Captain Gavin is so in love with fishing and knows so much about Tenerife that he will transport you on a journey of knowledge, discovery and adventure.
His small yet nifty boat will get you to the best spots to learn the special techqniues needed for each type of sea condition.

Whether you are a total beginner that wants to have their first experience or an advanced fisher looking for their personal best - Gavin has you covered.

You’ll be fishing on a 25’ offshore sportfishing boat that accommodates up to 6 guests. This is one of the fastest boats in its class, reaching a speed of 22 knots per hour. The vessel is by no means a luxury yacht, it is modest and functional, this is about getting down to it and for that Gavin has all kinds of equipment for the most effective and fun fishing trip, such as a fighting chair, outriggers, downriggers, a live bait tank, and a wireless trolling engine.

Depending on the fish you want to catch, the season and conditions, your captain will use his extense knowledge to show you a winning time on the water and perhaps you too will fall in love with fishing and Tenerife!

I go out with Gavin once a year when I come on holiday. Yet again I was not disappointed once we had some nice fresh bait fish caught by various methods we anchored up , was not long before the first fish was hooked and shortly followed by 3 more. Up to 80 lbs ! All fish were released as Gavin is a great promoter of sustainable fishing. Great half day and see you again next year.

I took a 4 hour shared trip with Gavin and also a 7 hour private trip. First let me start by saying, this captain knows his stuff. He has been fishing these waters for 30+ years and it shows. He was able to teach me techniques for how they fish here and what to do to be most effective. I did prefer the 7 hour private trip as we got to target the species I was after, namely tuna. We were unable to catch one, but it was not for lack of trying. Gavin went over and above to ensure I had a wonderful time. I would recommend him to anyone visiting Costa Adeje that wants to go fishing. He is the best! Cheers Gavin!

Booked 3 afternoons with my two grown up sons to try and catch some larger predatory fish in Tenerife. We are experienced fishermen in the UK so were expecting more than we ended up with. Gavin is a nice chap with plenty of stories. Would of expected more than an average size smoothound and a few smaller baitfish over 3 days. Ok I know Gavin can't do anything about the weather or if the fish bite but our expectations were a little higher than this. Got the impression he does more day trip tourist fishing for kids trips than cater for experienced fishermen. I think that the communication between Gavin and his Spanish admin assistant needs to be better as I was specifically asking about Tuna/Marlin etc before we booked.

Took a trip out on the 18th of february this year, and it was really good! The fishing is tough at the moment, but gavin worked his socks off to put us on the fish, with pink dentex being caught on the deck with the inline squid rigs, and deep fishing using the electric reel we caught rabbit fish around 1,200ft down on the deck! We started off on the trolling rigs for the tuna/ wahoo etc which were unproductive - again no reflection on the captains abilities … fishing is poor at the moment! - Anyway …. We then moved onto the deck fishing, and the fishing really took off! He’s a proper captain, knows his stuff and the waters he fishes .. anybody coming from the uk to Tenerife and want a day out on the boat - get on this man! Reasonable prices, he’s not afraid to cover some ground, we literally covered from los gigantes right down the coast to the lighthouse at punta ! .. literally the whole of the south side coast! Stunning just for the views ! I’m coming back at the end of April 24 and will definitely be using him again! His boat is clean and serviceable and meets all of Tenerife/ spains maritime sea laws and rules - he’s that open and honest we had a good chat about it as to how it varies to uk rules at sea etc. I will say …. Don’t expect a boat that is “immaculate show” standard … this is a working boat ! - it was perfectly clean and tidy and acceptable to fish from - I’ve been on much worse over here in England! Also if it looks used in my eyes - the sign of a good captain! - means he’s getting fish in the boat ! Also there is nothing wrong with the tackle contrary to some comments? - again perfectly useable and did the job well, And to be fair it all catches fish 👍 If you get the chance you really do need to try deep dropping a 6/8 hook flapper on the electric reel set up in the depths - it’s a totally unique experience! Make sure your fit for a workout too … reeling fish in over 1000ft + down is tiring but so much fun 😆 Food and drink was offered no worries there either, or bring what you wish, just make sure you have essential supplies, sun cream, hat, glasses etc and a charged phone - the coast is stunning for a picture 👍 I can’t wait for April to hurry up and come round, when I can get back - I’ll be like a kid a Christmas!

Gavin was great, nice weather, tasty snacks and beverage. I didn’t catch anything but that’s why it’s called fishing, not catching.

We've cast our lines in loads of locations throughout the world. Fishing should not be that tough in Tenerife considering the location is approximately 200miles of the west coast of the African Continent (usually plenty of fish) although the temperatures and season can have an effect. Diving in several Areas there seems plenty of fish and sholes from shore and out in the sea. Arrived early and was informed and told to be there 5-10mins before hand as he will leave at 1pm. He did not arrive at 1pm, he arrived at 1.20pm and the other parties got off and then loaded on the first five and then another 2 which brought the party to 7no. Got out straight away 30mins late from when I was informed the start was. Safety: We have been on several boats and sometimes get the odd briefing. Usually where life Jackets are just encase of bad weather or if the conditions change and can become unsafe and parties have to leave. We didn't receive one and were not told about the location of the life jackets until the Captain was complaining about a previous review 3.5hrs into the journey. Whilst I am a competent open water swimmer and diver. Life Jacket locations etc.. should be know to all personal and if personal are not competent swimmers in case of an emergency (no protocols in place - Very concerning)!! The Statement "World Class Tackle" is totally misleading and takes the biscuit. This is purely false advertisement. The equipment is old and out dated, tackle and rigs out dated and in a mess. Not even average at best. The bait Tank is an old small black bin with a few dead Mackerel (we laughed after 3hours - sating this will be the only fish we would see and we where correct). The Boat. This is a very weathered vessel. This needs some attention and cleaning. The facilities - not great, chemical toilet cramped between seats with no facilities to wash hands. This definitely need some looking at overall. No snacks made available although advertised, only had small cans of beers and bottles of water, no soft drinks, but said he had and only had a 2ltire bottle of coke to share between all. Captain Seemed Knowledgeable guy who talked too often more about his fishing experiences and kept confirming that our chances where very poor off catching skipjacks etc., but had set up 5 rods (out of the 7 on board without the captain) and then spent 2 - 3hours going back and forth on the coast line using these outdate lures. His method of live bait fishing using lures although he confirmed we had no chance of this. He still had us doing it for up to nearly 3hrs on this. Then Started saying that we may see a pod of dolphins and we need to be near them as they will be hunting , but a few moments later mentioned they where not in this area. Totally contradicting himself. He went on about trying to spot the low level birds to pick the fish of the top that pods of dolphins push up to the surface. He seemed very dis-organised and spent a lot of time on his phone (answering calls) and then showing picture of himself and other fishermen in the area that have there own small vessels of pictures of fish they caught, not releasing that some of the picture dated back to 2021/22 etc., like the photo in the advert and his Facebook photos he showed When everyone didn't look to happy he eventually tried to stop at a location, he moved off to two other locations before eventually stopping at one and then only manage to get out 3 rods for 6 people. It took nearly 30mins to do one rod up. The other two where set up for lead rig with dead bait rays, but where not even let sink to the bottom compared to one other. All other boats had up to 10 to 12 rods out and had people fishing whilst anchored. One person did get a rod out at front, but the others did not get a rod for another 30mins and some did not get any at all. When we had 3 rods out, he pulled the plug five minutes thereafter and the waves started to get bigger and not everyone had a rod or a chance to fish. If he had paid more attention on providing the service personal had paid for and listened to his own advise that he did not mind stating people would have had a better time and could have enjoyed the trip. Hence the safety statement at the beginning. The Parties where told that we had to reel in and pull the Rods in (some only had them out for 10 minutes) and then instead of pulling the anchor up, he told everyone to hold on and lunched up the speed very quickly to "unhook the anchor" and spinning us in circles and causing the boat to bounce up and down etc.. drenching everyone, he could have just lifted it up. No life Jackets giving out although he was concerned about getting out of there quick as the waves where getting wavey. I would not recommend this Trip or person at all or use his service which is in need of urgent attention. You may have better change buying a licence and hiring a the gear and fish from shore which will give you better chances from my diving experience in the areas.

Before diving into this review, let me provide context. We've cast our lines in numerous locations worldwide, typically opting for private charters, so we're no strangers to what's expected. Fishing's tough in the southern waters of Tenerife right now; the temperatures are high, and the fish aren't exactly as swarming as they should be. Now, onto the review, neatly packaged into bullet points for your reading convenience. Safety: We've never set sail without at least some safety briefing or the whereabouts of life-saving equipment being pointed out. Call me old-fashioned, but knowing where the life jackets are (if they even exist) is kind of crucial. While I'm not a fan of donning the jacket, a little reassurance goes a long way. "World Class Tackle": Let's talk about false advertising. Sure, maybe those Penn reels were top-notch once upon a time, but the tackle and rigs? Average at best. And let's not forget the "live bait tank" – a makeshift job using a bin that was more of an escape route for our hard-earned bait fish. The Boat: Frankly, it's seen better days. I've been on some weathered vessels in my time (Thailand, anyone?), but this one takes the cake. It's begging for some TLC – a good scrub and some maintenance wouldn't go amiss. The facilities? Don't get me started. A chemical toilet was shoehorned between seats with no proper handwashing facilities. Captain - Knowledgeable guy who rotated through all the methods to try and get us some fish. - He had a few ‘hobby horses’ shall we say and strong views which he should keep to himself and stick to the fishing. - Disorganised – Often got distracted which led to at times no lines in the water. A big issue for me was the fact that live bait is hard to catch (and has been for several years)and we sailed around for some time to try and find them when we did there were no rods with feathers on and by the time he sorted this they had gone and could not be found. - Often distracted by his phone and Facebook account, in the end, we were left to our own devices for a time. - Rods put out at the front of the boat were not monitored and when they were finally reeled in a small eagle ray was on one line and the bait had been stripped from the other. - I feel if he had been more attentive and less distracted, we would have been a lot more comfortable. In hindsight, I should've trusted my gut and walked away the moment I laid eyes on the boat. But alas, the eternal optimist in me prevailed. My advice? Give this so-called "legendary" boat a wide berth and explore other options.

Class days fishing and Gavin is a top skipper and guide. Caught plenty of reef fish and topped it off with a big ray and an angel shark. Will certainly book on again
