Your friendly private guide picks you up from your city hotel at 9:30am, and head up to Wuzhen, a 1,300 years old water town located in northern Zhejiang province.
Upon arrival, stroll along the old town and learn about the Wuzhen’s history from your guide. Enjoy a local lunch and then take a relaxing boat ride along the canals in the afternoon. You can take some nice photos in this charm-laden town. Browse around the narrow, cobbled pathways and cross stone-arched bridges.

Stop At: Xitang Ancient Town, Xitang Town, Jiashan County 314100 China
In the late afternoon, transfer to Xitang, a over 2,000 years delightful water village. The sunset here is amazing! Your guide will share with you about Xitang’s importance as a window into traditional life around the River Yangtze. As you wander, see some of the sites used as locations in the 2006 movie, Mission Impossible III, starring Tom Cruise. Lastly, have a romantic dinner right by the riverside and overlook the entire ancient town when lights on at night.
After dinner, you can take a walk to see the local shops and bars to experience the night life here. When your tour is finished, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Shanghai city. i.

We had such a fantastic day with Jerry in the two water towns! The views were absolutely amazing - as was the boat ride in both locations - one by day under the beautiful willow trees and the other by night with views of the lit water and red lanterns - what an experience!
Jerry took us to all the best spots, including a wonderful local restaurant for lunch and a great lit waterside restaurant at night. We sampled local culinary treats along the way - also some rice wine (very strong! Haha) - and of course shopping! Jerry even carried my shopping bags so I could be free to go in and out of the shops. He was so knowledgeable about the area and the history - wonderful guide!
When we first booked the trip we were worried it was going to be too long of a day, but it wasn’t - it was absolutely perfect! Jerry also let us go at our own pace, which was great!
Thank you Jerry and thank you Amazing City Tours for making our day trip out of Shanghai the BEST!!!

We had a superb time and experience, our favorite was Xitang, which is newer and there was more to see, shop and restaurants were aplenty. The boat ride during sunset was really nice, we took some nice pictures and saw the sky change its cookie while the red lanterns lit up.
Our guide Jerry was perfect. He is a 10 STAR! He made sure we had a good time and took care of us well. He was observant with our interests such as food preference. We had fun together, and it was like making a new friend. He paced our tour to suit us to make sure we had the best experience, and we did. Thank you Jerry!

Jerry is an excellent tour guide with extensive knowledge. Our group had a great time at Wuzhou and Xitang water town. The lunch and dinner included was nice. Will come back next time with my family.

Perfect! It could have been a terrible day due to constant rain, threat of rain, and cool temperatures. BUT our guide, Berlin simply refused to allow any of the three of us to have a less than fun and informative day. One day prior to the tour we were contacted by Viator’s supervisor, Alana to confirm our pickup, told about our guide, given the weather forecast, and asked for any special needs, etc. Also one day before the tour our guide, Berlin also checked in with us. On the morning of the tour, Berlin checked in again to make everything was set correctly.
We started out promptly on time at 8:30 am in a spotlessly clean Mercedes van with comfortable, roomy, individual leather seats. We ended promptly at 7:30 pm despite some of the worst traffic I have ever seen. On time performance seems to be a Viator characteristic. Berlin accurately helped connect 6,000 years of Chinese history to the complicated contemporary China of today. She was bright, articulate, thoughtful, positive, and willing to share her own point of view when asked. We learned a lot, had a great local lunch and dinner, and a nice coffee break in between meals for more relaxed conversation. Nothing was rushed and the whole day was set at our pace and not a pre-determined timetable. There was no “canned” scripts but rather open, two-way conversations. Wuzhen was slightly less “touristy” than Xitang, but both water towns were charming in their own way. I cannot recommenced Berlin and Viator highly enough. We felt we received far more than we paid for. This was our third Viator and we plan on using them again.

We weren’t sure what to expect on this trip but it turned out to be a great adventure. Our guide Berlin was just marvelous, helping us understand the water towns but also just making it an absolutely wonderful day with her zest and charm. We’d take another trip with Berlin in heartbeat!

Had a winderful day trip with Berlin. Driver was great and a good driver. Ride was comfortable and on time. Berlin is a great guide. She is friendly, nice and knowledgeable. She took good care of me during the whole trip, explaining all the details, history and background info of the places. She also took me to all the great photo spots and took many great photos for me. i thoroughly enjoyed myself. Definitely would recommend this trip with Berlin.

Outstanding tour....Driver was punctual, courteous and on time. Tour guide “Berlin” was exceptional. She was very personal and knowledgeable. Her English was excellent and her knowledge of the Chinese culture and the venues we toured was without equal.
Our family had a beautiful day. We could not have accomplished this without this tour.
We would definitely recommend this tour and these two guides.

We traveled the whole day with Berlin, who was interesting, knowledgeable, attentive to our needs and we learned a lot about the life in rural China. Highly recommended!

This tour goes above the rest by allowing you to see two villages, as well as explore one of the villages at night when you can see all the beautiful lanterns lit up. Wuzhen is a wonderful start where you can see history, ancient streets, and how ancient China was. Great gondola trip through the town. Xitang was my favorite part as this was more like old town meets 21st century. It’s amazing how the shops, restaurants, clubs, etc have all adapted to this town. It was great people watching and just exploring. This tour allows you to go at your pace, see what you want to see, and focus on what you like. BERLIN was a great tour guide and didn’t pressure us into anything, helped us explore local cuisine, and really helped us understand everything these two towns had to offer. If you have a day in Shanghai and want to get away, do this tour.
