An alun-alun (Javanese, correctly hyphenated but occurs occasionally without hyphen; also found as aloen-aloen, aloon aloon, and erroneously alon-alon) is a large, central, open lawn square common to villages, towns and cities in Indonesia.
Commonly, alun-alun in modern-day Indonesia refers only to the two large open squares of kraton palace compounds.

Where can I start. Our guide Krisma was so friendly, funny and nice and took us all around the downtown area of Yogyakarta sampling all different sweets and was nice enough to help pick us out traditional betir attire.
She went above and beyond and was very knowledgeable and was great spending time learning about the city and its rich history.
5/5!

This tour was amazing and I highly recommend anyone visiting Yogyakarta to try this. We had an excellent tour guide by the name of Yuni who kindly showed us a wide array of Indoenesian cuisine from some of the most highly respected and long standing street food vendors in Yogyakarta. The food was delicious and a must try for anyone wanting to experience authentic Indonesian food at its best. We also learned a lot about the history and culture of Yogyakarta and our guide Yuni made the night fun, cheerful and relaxing. This tour is a great way to familiarise yourself with the city as you get to visit a lot of different places as well. I definitely recommend anyone visiting Yogyakarta to to take this tour!!

This was such an excellent tour with very friendly, generous and knowledgeable guide Yuni, who told us about his city, it's culture, history and people, while taking us on an amazing tour of local food! Highly recommended for a really fun night out!! Also, Yuni was so helpful upon finding out I'm a vegetarian and ensured he only picked foods for me I could eat, always letting me know ingredients. Also, he was very gracious and waited for us when we arrived a little late due to getting lost. Thanks Yuni for a spectacular night out!
