Learn the ins and outs of Cambodian pottery during a ceramics workshop in Siem Reap. Led by an expert local artist, your 1 h 45 class covers the history of this ancient art form. You’ll practice methods of shaping clay on a pottery wheel and create your own Cambodian bowl and Khmer carving using various tools. The workshop we carry out is a unique experience that takes place in the Born neighborhood. A medieval historical environment, where the interior of the buildings and the atmosphere of the streets transports us to another era. It is the best environment to carry out any activity.
Ceramic art allows us to discover our creative abilities! Contact with clay grounds us and relaxes us while at the same time creating utilitarian or decorative ceramics. By learning the techniques of ceramics in the workshop, we will be able to create any form and shape we desire! You will learn three different techniques of ceramics. ・You will have the chance to try "tehineri"(clay forming by hand), a traditional technique handed down from the Jomon period(about 3,000 years ago), at a kiln that was established in 1796.
・Make your choice of bowls, plates, cups etc. After learning from and seeing an example from your instructor, you will get to make a piece with your own hands.
・After you're done making your piece, we will glaze and fire it for you, which will take about two months to complete. We will then send you your finished Kasama-yaki piece by SAL(Surface Air Lifted) mail.
You'll paint on canvas, lots of designs available to follow, and experiment with different colours. I also offer other experiences: canvas painting, glass fusing, hand building with clay, mosaics, glow in the dark painting, pottery painting, silkscreening. ***Drop me a note if you'd like alternate time for your appointment.****

Avanos is approximately 8 kilometers from the city center of Cappadocia. Pottery in this region dates back to 2000 BC during the Hittites period. Throughout history, human beings have been creative by using the resources provided by the soil for their own benefit in daily life. For centuries, local people have been taking this clay and using traditional old pottery wheels to make various items such as wine jugs, cooking utensils and souvenirs ever since Turkey embraced tourism.

In fact, making a ceramic "piece" on the Amalfi Coast and knowing the majolica technique means entering the world of great local traditions, which have made us famous all over the world for the creation of real works of art. The course will take place in one of our stores in Positano, along a small road overlooking the sea, and a taste of local limoncello will make the experience even more "local"! We will take care of the necessary material and the shipment of the object made after cooking, all that you will take with you at the end of this experience is a part of the local culture and a nice souvenir photo!
