This class is primarily for wheel throwing although we can modify the class to meet your preferences.
The focus of this class is I learning the basic foundations for how to make pottery on the wheel.
The class is taught in phases: centering, opening, and pulling. After each segment of the demonstration the students will practice what they have learned and we will move on as a group.

Have fun with friends making pottery! Explore the magic of pottery making with guide and instructor Karl Burnett, a local ceramic artist who makes beautiful stoneware pottery. Get hands on instructions in a small private group class. Pottery making is beginner friendly and great fun for both young and old. With guided, professional instruction, you'll have a fun and creative time making an item out of clay on a pottery wheel. I will show you how to work with the clay, get it ready for the wheel, center it, and eventually start shaping. Usually students can make either a small bowl, plate, mug or vase on their first try. You can add accents to the pieces by carving them or adding accents from clay i.e. handle. You can take the pottery home with you the same day you make them, or—if you'd like—I can fire your work, glaze it, and ship it to you fora small fee. I also offer other experiences: canvas painting, glass fusing, hand building with clay, mosaics, glow in the dark painting, pottery painting, silkscreening. ***Drop me a note if you'd like alternate time for your appointment.****
We are in the heart of Famous and traditional Chianti hills with breathtaking views. We are only 18km from Florence, Fattoria Lavacchio, practice Organic and Biodinamic agriculture in whole estate.
This is a full day of fun activities. It includes absolutely everything and is a great way to spend your day!
After lunch (from May to September) you will have also the opportunity to take a dive in the pool and relax under the olive groves of the Estate.
Then you will take a visit to the ceramics studio to learn about the authentic and original pottery of Tuscan artisans. You can then either choose to take a ceramic class and decorate your own bowls, plates and vases or you can go on a two-hour horseback ride through the Tuscan hills (for ten-years-old and over).

-And finally in my roll of being a cultural gestor i have a wide knowledge and contacts of the ongoing cultural activities in town, some of which would be more difficult to find for you as there doesn't exist a website or magazine that advertize them all as in our town information still relies a lot on word mouth to mouth, so you will get to know this information during our tour too.
