On the Ground
Pleasant forest walk to the famous Holmenkollen ski jump, the heart of Norwegian skiing. Our guide will show you some beautiful views in a part of Oslo rarely seen by tourists.
It's hard to beat a good walk by a peaceful lake in the woods. Add warming up by a cozy fire afterwards and you've got the perfect match! Enjoy nature as locals do!
The tour starts at in the city center near the tiger statue at Jernbanetorget. We will then take a train to Sognsvann - an idyllic lake surrounded by green forest. Oslo is known for its efficient public transportation system and in just 20 minutes from the city center you are practically in the center of wilderness where the magical forest is preserved as it was centuries ago.
After arriving at the peaceful lake, a short walk in the forest (2 km ~) will be followed by a campfire. Here you will learn how to make a fire in the wild, talk about Norwegian outdoor food traditions, local life and more. You will also have a chance to taste some of the common camp treats that every local enjoys from time to time! Join us for this unique experience, while still leaving plenty of time to explore more of Norway's capital city.
Whether you take this self-guided GPS audio tour on an early Sunday morning or a busy Tuesday afternoon, you will always experience the area and paths as a break from everyday life - a green and fresh lung that provides you with extra energy and joy of life.
VoiceMap takes you on a tour upstream the river of Akerselva, from the busy downtown by the traffic machines, the Central Station and the Bus Terminal at Vaterland, and about 3 kilometres up to Sagene, where it ends by a cosy café next to a waterfall. The tour takes about 45 minutes, without stop.
While you walk, Lars will tell you the story of Akerselva, and its surrounding areas. Along the way, you'll hear how the river shaped the industrial evolution of Oslo, and how it was brought back from environmental degradation, to become the tranquil, green artery of Oslo.
…
NB! The tour is wheelchair accessible, but be aware that the path may be steep in some places.
